Clash of Clans Tips and Hints
- Join Clan - Once the clan castle is rebuilt you can officially join a clan and battle to win more goodies against other users.
- More Clan People - In order to invite your Facebook or Game Center friends, your friend must first play Clash of Clans, connect to Game Center or Facebook with their account and have rebuilt their Clan Castle. After this, you can see your friend in the Friends menu, where you can tap their name and choose Invite from the context menu. Inviting from global chat works in a similar way: tap a player's message, and choose Invite from the context menu.
- Shield - The Shield prevents other people from attacking you for a period of time. You lose the shield when the time runs out, or when you attack another player. When your village is destroyed by an enemy attack, you automatically get a new shield for 12 hours. You can also purchase longer lasting shields from the shop. Also keep in mind that if you do not have an active shield and you exit the game, your village will be vulnerable to attacks from other players. The attacking player will be able to steal some of your resources, but never all of them. You can protect your village with defensive buildings, walls and traps, or by buying a new shield form the shop. Terrain obstacles and the edge of the map do not stop attacking units!
- Smart Building - When you build your village, build all your structures close together. It gives you an edge in defending your villages. If your village is compact, your turrets will be able to defend more buildings at once.
- Move and Make - One of the coolest features in this game is the ability move buildings, thus re-arranging your vilage, after you have made it. Use it make the best possible defense for your village.
- Defend Yourself - Don't send all your forces to ravage others. Keep a standing army at your village at all times to help with defense.
- Gems - Save your gems for important purchases. Early on it will be tempting to use gems left and right to hurry up the process of building and training. This only gets "worse" over time as things take longer and longer to complete. The game is designed to play on your impatience and get you to buy more gems (with real money). While you can get more gems by clearing your area (trees, rocks, etc.), it's only a few at a time. Hang on to your gems.

The game centres around building, maintaining, and expanding a small fantasy village, as well as repelling attacks from goblins, and setting off on adventures in search of enemy settlements to destroy.
We thought you might need a helping hand to get yourself off the ground. That's why we've created this guide. Be sure to check it out before you grab your sword and sprint blindly into battle.
The basics
There are three (yes, three) different forms of currency in Clash of Clans, so you'll have to be constantly keeping your eye on your wallet (or the top-right corner of your device's screen).
The first of these currencies is Gold Coins, which you'll earn in abundance from resource gatherers, completing quests and missions, and a variety of other outlets.
Gold Coins can spent upgrading specific buildings, paying your workers to clear obstacles, purchasing decorations, and fortifying your village with defensive contraptions.
The second form of currency is Elixir. This pink substance is earned from resource gatherers but can also be stolen from the numerous goblin settlements that you raze to the ground.
You'll likely spend it training your many troops, upgrading the buildings that aren't covered by gold coins, and constructing storage buildings for your varied resources.
Finally, there are Green Gems, which we'd class as the game's premium currency. You can grab these through in-app purchases and special in-game promotions, and trade them in for coins and Elixir.
They can also be spent to instantly complete construction projects and other time-consuming tasks, as well as on special buildings.
Construct-'em-up
During your time with Clash of Clans, you'll find yourself regularly partaking in the fine act of construction. You can't expand a village without buildings, after all.
Buildings fall under three different categories: resources, which includes contraptions that mine and store valuable resources like Gold Coins and Elixir; army, which is made up of a Barracks and other military-themed outposts; and defences, which contains everything you need to defend your village from attacks.
Resource buildings - particularly those that store your commodities - are extremely important as they increase the maximum amount of currency that you can hold at any one time.
With that in mind, you'll want to upgrade your Gold storage and Elixir storage buildings to at least level two fairly early on in your adventure. If you don't, many of the Gold Coins and Elixir you earn from your first couple of battles will simply be lost.
By the end of Clash of Clans's compulsory tutorial, your village should be packed with two Builder's Huts, but you may want to construct a third in order to increase the number of buildings that you can erect simultaneously.
Specific upgrades
Unlike in most free-to-play build-'em-ups, you don't unlock new items (besides decorations) in Clash of Clans by collecting experience points (XP) and leveling-up. Instead, you unlock new content by upgrading specific buildings.
Upgrading your Town Hall to level four, for example, will unlock the game's Air Defense and Spring Trap items for your village. So, be sure to upgrade it at least a couple of times early on.
Don't forget to upgrade your Barracks, either: a new troop type is unlocked every time you do so. As you unlock newer, larger, and more powerful troops, you'll also have to upgrade (or purchase additional) Army Camps.
These camps house your brave warriors post-training and pre-battle, so you don't want to run out of room.
Slice and dice
Battles in Clash of Clans aren't a walk in the park and you will find yourself lying dead in a ditch (well, okay, not literally) if you don't plan your attacks properly.
Firstly, don't attempt to enter more than the first few battles if you haven't upgraded your Barracks and unlocked additional unit types. You'll likely end up in that ditch we mentioned above.
Secondly, don't recruit and train any units for a battle until you've scoped out your upcoming battlefield. You can select a battle on the game's map, take a look at the environment, and return to your village before the action kicks off without receiving a penalty.
When performing reconnaissance on your opponents, be sure to look for weak points in their defences.
As you can see in the screenshot below, the goblin settlement in question can either be attacked from the front or the rear. The rear only has a single cannon defending it, so coming in from the back is the best path to take in this scenario.
It's important to remember that you'll lose every troop you send into a battle post-victory, regardless of whether or not they perished in the midst of a bloody brawl. In other words, don't send every single troop you have at your disposal into battle if you don't need to, it's a waste, and you'll have to spend more Elixir to repopulate your army.
Although you can't control your troops directly (or even point them in the right direction) during a battle, you can still have some say over what targets they attack first.
Simply place your troops as close to the structure you want razing first as possible and your warriors will generally target it first.
Defend to the hilt
If you play Clash of Clans for more than three days, your village will start to be routinely attacked by goblin raiders, who'll happily destroy your picturesque settlement if it's not properly protected.
Walls, while relatively expensive, will slow down invading opponents, which makes them invaluable. Be sure to place them around your most valuable buildings.
You'll also get cannons, which are great against ground units, and Archer Towers, which are good at combating air units. Bear in mind, however, that you can only purchase a very limited number of each, so it's imperative that you place them where they can defend almost all of your constructions.
If you don't fancy battling at all, simply purchase a Shield from Clash of Clans's in-game store using some of your Green Gems. It will prevent all attacks for either one, two, or seven days.

Clash of Clans Intro
Clash of Clans is a
free to play city building game created by Supercell. It is your task
to guide the development of a viking encampment into a thriving city
state, battling goblin hordes and eventually other players as well.

Quick Start Guide
Getting Started:- After downloading the game, launching it will send you straight to your starter village.
- A short tutorial will begin. Be sure to follow the directions carefully, as they introduce the Clash of Clan’s mechanics.
- Resources - The first thing you need to do is familiarize yourself with the Clash of Clan’s resources. These resources allow you to perform the basic functions of the game. They are pictured below.
- The yellow bar at the upper right corner is your gold. Gold is used to construct buildings, defensive structures, and to upgrade buildings.
- The purple bar below the gold is your elixir meter. Elixir is used to construct buildings, create military units, and upgrade buildings.
- The green bar below the elixir meter notes the number of gems in your possession. Gems are the most important resource in the game and are the currency that can be purchased for real live cash. Gems can be used to hurry construction or traded directly for gold and elixir. Be sure to conserve them as much as possible -- unless you have deep pockets. If you do not have gems to hurry construction, you must wait long periods of time until you can make another move.
- The Builder meter at the top middle of the screen shows how many builders you have, and how many are free to build. Each builder can work on only one project at a time. Builder’s huts can only be built by using gems.
- The shield meter shows you how much time you have until your city becomes vulnerable to attack by hostile players in multiplayer. Shield can be purchased using gems, and is automatically replenished after an enemy player attacks your village.
- The bar on the top left of the screen indicates your current level. The more you build and fight, the higher your level becomes. You are matched against others of a similar level in multiplayer.
- The trophy counter below your level indicates how many trophies you have collected during multiplayer matches.
- The arrow in the screenshot below indicates the achievements menu. When you tap this icon, a list of possible achievements will be listed. By earning achievements, you also earn gems.
City Management:
- Building Structures - As mentioned above, builders allow you to construct buildings. This is the most important function of the game. By tapping the shop icon in the lower right hand corner of the screen, you will open the shop menu. It is pictured below.
- Resource Collectors - Elixir is gained by building elixir collectors. Gold is gained by building gold mines. Both structures produce their respective resource periodically and must be tapped to collect.
- Resource Storage - The resources accumulated by resource collectors must be stored. If you do not build gold storage and elixir storage buildings, you will not be able to save up enough to build pricier structures.
- Army Structures - The barracks allows you to build military units. The army camp serves as a staging area for the troops you recruit. The laboratory allows you to research.
- Defensive Structures - Defensive structures are used to prepare your village for enemy attacks in multiplayer. Building cannons, archery towers, walls and other defenses is the key to defending against an enemy attack. Like in tower defense games, be sure to place defensive structures in a way to maximize their effectiveness. Below is a screenshot of the defensive structures menu.
- Obstacles - The space available to build in your village is restricted by obstacles strewn around the map. These obstacles -- trees, rocks, ruins, etc -- can be removed by tapping on them and spending the requisite amount of elixir or gold. This will allow you to expand your village.
- Upgrading - By tapping on an existing building you will have the option to upgrade them in exchange for elixir or gold. Be sure to do this. Structures are not very effective at low levels.
- Attacking - By tapping the attack icon on the lower left hand corner of the screen, it will bring up the menu you see below.
- Single Player - The map on the left is for Clash of Clans’ single player mode. Each node on the map is another goblin village for you to destroy. The troops you build at the barracks can then be deployed against these goblins. Destroying a goblin village grants you gold and elixir. Single player battles do not remove your village’s shield. Below is an image that shows what it looks like when you attack.
- The slots on the bottom of the screen show the units you can deploy. Tapping the unit icon and then tapping a location on the screen will spawn said unit, so long as it is outside of the red area that denotes enemy territory. After units are spawned, they fight without direction.
- Multiplayer - By finding a multiplayer match, you and your army will be matched up against an enemy village of equal level. Destroying these villages allows grants booty, just like single player. Be careful though, once you decide to attack, your village becomes vulnerable to attack too.
- Build smart - When you build your village, make sure all your structures are close together. If your village is compact, that means your turrets will be able to defend more buildings at once.
- Defend yourself - Keep a standing army at your village at all times to help with defense.
- Experiment - Don’t be afraid to rearrange your village. After you build a building, you can move it around the map without penalty.
